HD Captures from last nights Season Finale of The Vampire Diaries have been added to the gallery. I feel like I lost my best friend, last nights episode was so emotional and heartbreaking, but also very beautiful. Though I think the pain outweighs the beauty at this moment.

We all just spent the last 6 years of our life with The Vampire Diaries and of course Nina Dobrev as Elena Gilbert, saying goodbye to a character is always hard. I am thankful for the years we did get from Nina on The Vampire Diaries, it doesn’t make it easy though and it still hurts.

Ever since Dobrev and executive producer Julie Plec revealed that The Vampire Diaries season six finale would be Dobrev’s last episode, fans everywhere were left to wonder if the CW show would do the unthinkable and kill off her character. It’s been weeks of back-and-forth speculation, but it all comes to an end tonight when the season six finale airs, and the question of Elena’s fate will finally be answered.

But since we can wait that long, we went straight to Plec, Dobrev, and even Michael Trevino, who is also exiting the series after tonight’s finale, to find out if we’ll be mourning or celebrating by the time the end credits roll.
“Well…,” Plec tells E! News with a laugh when asked if Elena was going to die. “I don’t know how to answer that without either hinting a yes or hinting a no. I’ll just say that we’re very happy with the choice we made about how to handle her character’s departure. We’ll see if everyone agrees.”

Trevino reveals that no matter if Elena lives or dies, her exit will be permanent (unlike his, which Plec and Trevino both told us is not so permanent).

“It’s an end note for sure,” Trevino tells E! News. “It’s a big period at the end of the sentence, if you will. It’s beautiful. As we know, Nina Dobrev is leaving our show so we put a stamp of an ending there for our beloved Elena.”

And no matter how you feel about Dobrev leaving, Trevino promises it will be a satisfying way to say goodbye to her character.

“They did a beautiful job with her send off,” Trevino says. “I wouldn’t necessarily call it a cliffhanger, but it definitely is a, ‘where do we go from here?’ You’re going to be asking yourself, what is season seven going to be about? It’s mysterious in a way.” Continue Reading at E!Online

2015 Vanity Fair Oscar Party Hosted By Graydon Carter - Arrivals

Now that Nina Dobrev is no longer confined to the rigorous schedule of a TV star, the actress tells PEOPLE that she’s enjoying her newfound free time.
As Dobrev, 26, documents her cross-country road trip/scavenger hunt on Instagram, she says that she’s using the interlude following her run as Elena on The Vampire Diaries to “do the opposite of what I’d been doing for the last six years. I had a very scheduled, regimented life, and I’ve just been taking the whole month to not plan anything and see where life takes me and chill for a second before getting back into it and getting super-focused again.”

Adds Dobrev, “I want to live like a twentysomething!”
The actress goes on to say that leaving the show is a bit like graduating after 12 years of being in high school. “I was on Degrassi: The Next Generation, which was high school, and I was in actual high school for four years, and then I did four years of high school on The Vampire Diaries … I’m ready to graduate and emerge into the real world and be an adult for the first time.

One thing I enjoyed most were the gorgeous photoshoots the Cast of  The Vampire Diaries would do, and Nina looks absolutely gorgeous in these photos. Two additional photos were released for this Season of The Vampire Diaries.

vampire-diaries-02For six seasons, Elena Gilbert has been the beating heart of The Vampire Diaries. From her epic love story with Stefan Salvatore to her death—and subsequent epic love story with Damon Salvatore—she’s been at the center of it all. And actress Nina Dobrev has been even more central to the show, taking on multiple roles thanks to Elena’s doppelganger history. There was Katherine Pierce, there was Amara, and on The Originals, there was even Tatia.

But now, all that has come to an end as Dobrev prepares to leave TVD to explore new adventures. And although the show will continue on without her—as we all know, you don’t need a beating heart to live on in Mystic Falls—she will surely be missed … and not just by the Salvatores.

EW spoke with Dobrev and TVD executive producer Julie Plec about the journey that took Elena Gilbert from innocent human to badass vampire, and then back to a (less innocent) human.

CASTING ELENA

Plec: There were two [audition] scenes. It was meeting Stefan in the cemetery and then dragging Jeremy into the bathroom and telling him, “Don’t be this person” when she catches him with eye drops. The funniest story about the first impression of Nina is that she didn’t make an impression. None of us remembered seeing her for the first time. And then she, through her agents and the casting directors, said, “Hey, listen—I was sick that day, I didn’t do my best work, I really really want this part.” [She] put herself on tape, which then got sent to us and it was so magical and so perfect that she basically had the job from that minute forward.

Dobrev: This was my first pilot season ever, actually. I had just finished Degrassi, and I decided to move to LA and give it a shot. I went in and ultimately got a film that shot in Canada, so I got shipped back to Canada. I did an audition tape because I didn’t feel good about my first audition, and then thank God I did. As a Canadian, living north of the border, that’s the only way you do get a job in the States. I’d say I booked 80 percent of the jobs I’ve ever gotten from tapes. You’ll do the tape, you’ll do an audition, they’ll send it. Sometimes they’ll fly you out to do a chemistry read or fly you out to meet you after that point, but for the most part, everything’s audition tapes. Continue Reading at Entertainment Weekly
