TPTB are staying very tightlipped on how that’s going down, but when I asked for a non-Elena spoiler for the season finale, I got a very interesting response: “The season ends with a flash forward,” executive producer Julie Plec tells me. “The show’s not cut yet, so by the time I’m done with it, it might not, but currently it does.” Dun. One of the big elements of the show right now is Nina Dobrev’s upcoming exit. Without spoiling how she leaves, what were your thoughts about her decision?
She wants to move on and do films and do other stuff. She’s still young, and I think it’s the right decision for her to go right now. It’s something she had decided she wanted to do ages ago. She knew she had a time on [her run on the show]. There’s been a lot of speculation about why she’s done it, but I know it’s just for the same reason any actor would want to leave a show: To move on and do other work. The best thing about our job is we get to live in different characters, in different worlds, and meet new people. That’s exciting. For someone who’s in her position, she’s still young, she’s entitled to do that. We’re going to miss her, but I think it’s the right thing for her. Source THR

When the show returns Thursday (8/7c, The CW), Damon (Ian Somerhalder) will keep secret the fact that Bonnie (Kat Graham) brought him that little vial. But when he and Elena discuss their future, Damon realizes it’s time to admit that those hypothetical plans they made could now become a reality. Naturally, Elena balks at the opportunity to become human again, until Damon proposes (in a swoon-worthy scene) an idea — one that mirrors Elena’s in Season 4 — that she’ll find hard to refuse. It’s been an emotional week for the entire Vampire Diaries Fandom, but not just for them but everyone involved with the show as well. TVD Family has been together for the past 6 years, and now we all have to say Goodbye to the heart of the show Nina Dobrev.
Not only do we have to say goodbye Nina has to say goodbye to what has been her family for the past 6 years too. It can’t be easy for her, and as you can see through the photos that have been shared it hasn’t been easy to shoot the final scenes with her extended family. It’s hard for her, it’s hard for the entire TVD Family to say goodbye. We will miss Nina dearly on the show, but if you are a true Nina fan, you support her decision and respect her. I know I’ll continue to follow her career but I’ll miss her as the loving Elena Gilbert that we all have invested so much into. She’s our heroine, our strong TV Woman Character, showing the world that woman can capture a show and audience like she has for so many years.
Thank You Nina, thank you to the Cast & Crew of TVD for all that you have given me as a fan over the years. The writers you have made me cry,laugh,scream, so angry, so hurt but most of all very pleased and happy with the show.
