On Sale Today Rogue’s Fall Issue N°7, Nina discusses her upcoming movie Lucky Day which she is currently filming, Flatliners(in Theaters now) and also her exit from The Vampire Diaries. She discusses plenty more but go out and grab yourself a copy!
On her upcoming film Lucky Day: “Of all the roles I’ve done so far it’s the biggest departure I’ve had to tackle, because I have to speak French and have an accent. By the time this comes out I think my hair will be cut shorter. I’m excited about that.”
On her new movie Flatliners: “It’s such a unique concept, the idea of dying and coming back to life– everybody at some point wonders what happens after we pass away– where do we go? Are we just here for a short amount of time and then nothing? Is that it? There are so many questions. I’ve always wondered about it, so the fact that this film explores that concept was very intriguing to me,”
On leaving The Vampire Diaries before the show ended: “I’ve always wanted to take big risks. I started Vampire Diaries when I was 20, and I was playing a young teenage girl. I also played Katherine, this ancient vixen who was manipulative and crazy. Then I grew into myself as a woman– I found that part of myself while playing that role– I grew with the show and I wanted to continue to grow outside of it. Mentally, it was a crazy time. I was 27 when I left the show, I was ready to do something different. I wanted to prove everyone wrong who said I would play this one role my whole life or be stuck playing younger roles.”

We’re so focused on the ocean in Miami and so are you, with your commitment to sharks as an ocean advocate.
Sharks are so misunderstood and we have a terrible fear of them because of movies and they get a bad rep because of the press. On the rare occasion there’s some sort of accident, you hear about it because it gets publicized, but you don’t hear about all the times when nothing happens, which is more often than not. There are sharks in the water all the time swimming with people, and they don’t do anything because they don’t care about us. They’re animals and they make mistakes so every once in a while, you have to realize that if you’re in their home, you have to play by their rules and you are taking a risk when you’re in the water with them, but they’re not really interested in humans. I want to spread that awareness and make sure they get protected because they don’t have anybody looking out for them. I’m going to be the voice for these amazing and beautiful creatures. Read More

Nina Dobrev is featured on the cover of the February 2017 issue of Prestige Hong Kong Magazine. The issue’s cover story, Nina talks about filming xXx: The Return of Xander and promoting the film around the world. She shares how she felt returning to her hometown od Toronto to film both xXx and the upcoming film, Flatliners, which debuts in September. Nina also dishes on leaving The Vampire Diaries, living in L.A. and much more. Here’s a sneak peek,
What was it like going back? Did it feel like you were no longer a hometown girl?
I was more of a hometown girl compared to the rest of the cast. But I definitely feel that in the 10 years that I’ve lived abroad the city has changed immensely, and going to the city as an adult and being able to drink and go out and stuff is a different experience. When I was younger and just getting into college I really wasn’t in that world. Now there are so many restaurants that are amazing and so many lounges and rooftops and places you can explore. The city has gentrified and grown in such a beautiful way. I can safely say that I got to discover the city in a new way almost as though it was the first time. But I did know a few places that the others didn’t that I got to take them to. So I did play tour guide a little bit.Do you miss hanging out with vampires?
[Laughs.] I miss my family 100 percent. You spend six years with a group of people – the crew, the cast, everybody involved. They really, really did become my family and I miss a lot of those people. It must have been really hard to walk away from Vampire Diaries.
I don’t know if I would have the opportunities that I have now if I hadn’t done the show. I’m eternally grateful. It was such a great stepping stone and hopefully it will lead to even more amazing
things. I’ve been very lucky so far. I’ve been very fortunate with the show and the movies and I can’t wait to see what will happen next.
