On Delena’s Passionate Yet Tumultuous Relationship: “They’ve got to have a lot of actual, legit, grown-up conversations,” Julie Plec pointed out. “We just want to try to play them as human as possible, in spite of their inhuman experience.” Ian then coyly added his two cents about why it’s hard for Delena to address important issues and resolve them. “They keep taking their pants off, and that’s what gets in the way of the grown-up conversations,” he said in a matter-of-fact tone. (And breaking the bed, anyone?) On Stelena’s Future: While they wouldn’t say whether or not the characters hook up again or rekindle their romance, the TVD executive producers and stars did verify that there are plenty of interactions between Stefan and Elena in upcoming episodes of Season 5. Specifically? Episode 5×18! “There’s some really good Stelena stuff coming up in the episode Paul directed,” Caroline Dries hinted. She described the footage as being “satisfying” as it is “nostalgic.” Moreover, Paul confirmed that the upcoming Stelena scenes are “reminiscent of season one.” Aww. We can’t wait for some throwback memories! Continue Reading
5×16 While You Were Sleeping
A KILLER VIRUS — When Stefan (Paul Wesley) tries to explain recent events to a very sick Elena (Nina Dobrev), her first instinct is to call Damon (Ian Somerhalder). At the same time, Damon is trying to figure out how to make a disturbing confession to Elena. While going through Dr. Wes’ files, Caroline (Candice Accola) discovers a frightening secret, and is surprised when Enzo (guest star Michael Malarkey) appears, claiming to have the solution everyone is searching for. At Enzo’s insistence, Caroline asks Stefan to meet her at a mysterious location where they are joined by a group of Travelers, including Sloan (guest star Caitlin McHugh), who reveals new information on the importance of doppelgangers. During spring break on a mostly deserted Whitmore campus, Elena runs into Luke (guest star Chris Brochu), a student who seems to know her, though she has no memory of meeting him. Recently dumped by his boyfriend, Luke proposes that he and Elena spend the break getting drunk together, but she sends him off on an urgent mission to find Bonnie (Kat Graham) and the “newbie” witch, Liv (guest star Penelope Mitchell). Damon finally tells Elena the truth about his recent activities, and they come to a new agreement about their relationship. Pascal Verschooris directed the episode written by Caroline Dries (#516).
Katherine Pierce has gone to Hell — or at least The Vampire Diaries’ version of the dark side — and she’s not coming back.
In the final moments of Thursday’s episode, Katherine (Nina Dobrev) made her peace with losing her centuries-long battle to stay alive, but as she put her hands on Bonnie’s shoulders, the gateway to the other side, nothing happened. Suddenly, the wind started blowing, and Katherine was sucked into oblivion.
“It’s unlike anything we’ve seen before,” executive producer Caroline Dries tells TVGuide.com. “We’ve seen characters appear to Bonnie [Kat Graham], the anchor, and go through Bonnie and that’s their initiation into the other side. When Katherine died, that didn’t happen and [instead] she’s ripped out of Bonnie’s arms and sucked into wherever by some dark void. We don’t say anything religious like Heaven or Hell, but that’s the implication — she’s going to a dark world.” Continue Reading at TV Guide
