For a while now us fans have been trying so hard for The Primetime Emmy Awards to at least give The Vampire Diaries a fair chance, when going through the voting Process that they would really consider this show.
We did find out that Paul is in Lead Drama Actor, Nina is in Lead Drama Actress and Ian is in Supporting Drama Actor on the ballot thanks to @cadlymack on Twitter, but of course The Primetime Emmy Awards will most likely just pass on over them without even a look at what was submitted, if you ask me it is discriminating.
The reason I say that The Primetime Emmy Awards discriminate towards The Vampire Diaries is because it’s not just them it’s The CW they put their nose up too, they can deny this all they want, but it’s the truth, nowhere is it written that The CW shows can’t be nominated, but we went through this with The WB and UPN years ago there were a few Solid Good Emmy Worthy Shows like For Example Buffy The Vampire Slayer this show is now a LEGEND and was always passed up, it had a few nominations in like Visual Effects, Music etc, but I am talking about the Actors being nominated along with the show as a series.
Perhaps The Primtime Emmy Awards ignore because The CW isn’t a rich network, but if you ask me it’s the riches Network out there and not because of money, but because of the people on it, the talent on a few of the shows is just Phenomenal and it breaks my heart that each year it gets ignored. Though as Actor Ian Somerhalder says: “We will live and continue” from his tweet to Nina Network on June 9th, 2011 while discussing The Primetime Emmy Awards.
Another reason because it’s not a High Rated Network well here is the thing which I feel should end soon The Nielsen Ratings it’s ridiculous because when you really look at it you know damn well The Vampire Diaries is getting more then the 2 or 3 mil A week they get in these “ratings”, I mean seriously The Vampire Diaries Facebook has over 7 MILLION Fans and I bet you those 7 Million WATCH the show and then don’t forget all those without Internet and a Nielsen Box that are not being counted.
I hope that one day things change and this Discrimination ends but until then we can just continue to enjoy our shows, admire and adore our actors and actresses that bring us nothing but the best every time they are on our screens.
One thing is for sure though Emmy or No Emmy The Vampire Diaries will always be remembered, it has one hell of a Fan Following and I am so proud to be part of the Fandom. Who Needs An Emmy when you got all of us! It would be amazing, but life goes on.
I end this with two of my Favorite Scenes that Nina Dobrev did in Season 2 of The Vampire Diaries , do you have a favorite that you feel was Emmy Worthy? Feel Free to Comment Below!
Nina Dobrev as Katerina in 2.09 Katerina
Nina Dobrev as Elena in 2.20 The Last Day
This article is written fantastically. I agree with every single thing you have written. The Emmy’s are discriminating towards The CW, which is completely wrong. The Vampire Diaries should not be discriminated against just because of the network they are on. I admire you Andrea, for the dedication and hard work you are putting into this. I truly hope that The Vampire Diaries does get nominated.
Thank You Kenny so much for that! 🙂
This is truly an amazing articlee! You put everything into words what everyone is thinking about it. There really are shows of the CW with outsanding actors and shows, like you mentioned Buffy The Vampire Slayer!
Thank you so much, Andrea, for finally stating something that all of us fan have been wanting to say for a while now. You’re completely right. The entire CW network is discriminated against and it’s truly unfortunate. Great shows like Smallville and Supernatural are always overlooked simply because of the network they are on which is completely unfair. All of the actors on The Vampire Diaries are top notch and they truly deserve some recognition. This goes for the writers and crew as well. I guess the Emmy officials just can’t recognize a truly amazing show when it’s right in front of them. All u can say is that we as fans just need to continue to do what we love: watch our favorite show. On a positive note, TVD is only at the end of it’s second season and I don’t see itching anywhere soon, so there is always hope. TVDFamily for life!

This article is written really well. I agree with every thing you’ve written.
The Vampire Diaries should not be discriminated against just because of the network they are on. the Emmy’s discriminating against the CW is completely wrong, at least look at some of the shows they have on there, then decide, as they say, don’t judge a book by its cover.
You’re a really dedicated fan for doing all of this for TVD. I hope that someday TVD does get at least nominated, but until then, the show all of us fans.
great article. it’s not right that they discriminate against certain networks. I really do hope that the cast wins.they’re great actors and deserve to win. TVD does have a lot of fans. This may never happen but i think they should leave it to the fans to vote like we vote for other award shows.
i think scean were damon has to kill rose is most emotionol i just <3 it, and i think the vampire diaries has good raitings and it is not fair that they can not be nominated on emmy awards , but emmy or not they still have us
