There doesn’t appear to be too public much information behind why Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev split after several years, but a cryptic Tweet may give fans some insight.
Just before a source confirmed to PEOPLE that the Vampire Diaries stars called it quits, Somerhalder, 34, Tweeted, “A THOUGHT FOR TODAY: People change and forget to tell each other. -Lillian Hellman, playwright (1905-1984).”
Dobrev, 24, hasn’t spoken – or Tweeted – publicly about the split, but has been photographed spending lots of time with fellow newly single lady, Julianne Hough. Source
