Nina did not win the award she was individually nominated for in the Choice Action Movie Actress category, although The Vampire Diaries won the Choice Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Show award; which was a fitting end with the show having aired the finale of its eighth and final season on Friday, March 10th 2017 on The CW in America that included Nina’s triumphant return to the series as both Elena Gilbert and Katherine Pierce. Meanwhile, Kat Graham who portrayed Bonnie Bennett on The Vampire Diaries won the Choice Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Actress award.

Julie Plec summed it up beautifully in a series of tweets congratulating everyone involved in The Vampire Diaries, an extraordinary thank you to all the fans and a special congratulation to Kat Graham:

There was also success for Nina’s recent collaborator Vin Diesel; as The Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2 won the Choice Sci-Fi Movie award in which Vin Diesel voices Baby Groot, although rather surprisingly The Return of Xander Cage and Fate of the Furious did not win any awards.

Nina has paid tribute to her cat Lynx that sadly passed away in March 2017. Nina’s tribute to Lynx came on International Cat Day; following their wonderful day-to-day friendship from 1999 to 2017.

It is good to know that Nina has found an appropriate balance between fondly remembering Lynx and finding new friendships with other animals such as the adorable Maverick Dogbrev and Unicorn Sharkbrev.

Les Mills, News, Nina News, Reebok ♦ August 10, 2017

Initially, it was thought that Nina had joined Reebok Women, but she has rather amazingly became an ambassador for both Reebok Women and their partnership with Les Mills. Nina expressed her delight when officially announcing her partnership in joining Reebok Women and Les Mills.

Nina wears Les Mills fitness clothing and approves of their compact 30 minute GRIT workout plan titled High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) which Nina diligently follows within its structured format. Nina has an interesting written interview at https://www.lesmills.com/nina-dobrev-and-les-mills/ covering her thoughts on Les Mills and the HIIT workout.

Nina answered some style questions for Reebok such as what she is most likely to wear on set in between scenes, adaptive clothing, style tips for girls on the go and what Nina wears when working out and when out and about.

Juliana Radich has written a very entertaining and informative article about her experience training with Nina for a day and the healthy super foods they ate during lunch which can be read at https://www.lesmills.com/knowledge/newsfeed/working-out-with-nina-dobrev/ accompanied by some workout pictures.

The origins of Nina’s partnership with Reebok Women and Les Mills may date back to as early as April 2017; as Les Mills complimented Nina for participating in a Les Mills workout at Coachella in a social media post from April 28th 2017.

@nina thanks for dropping into @coachella and joining us for a sweaty @lesmillstribe workout!

Nina Dobrev has participated in a very interesting interview with Erik Davis of entertainment publication Fandango in which Nina has really shined a spotlight on some intriguing details regarding what we can expect from Flatliners in addition to new film stills that Nina features in pretty much all of them which is certainly a positive looking ahead to her amount of screen time.

Nina commented on her character’s motivation,

“Marlo is an ambitious young woman who is an overachiever in some ways. She’s a cellist, and a competitive swimmer. She’s very, very smart and wants to be top of her class. So she’s constantly trying to figure out ways to advance herself, and when she finds out about this opportunity to discover something new in the medical field, she jumps on that.”

Nina revealed what it was like training with medical professionals and what it brings to the film,

“I thought it was really fun to work on this film. We went through three weeks of medical training with real medical technicians, and learned about defibrillators, and how to resuscitate people. What those steps are. It was really informative. I don’t want to sound cocky and say that I could bring someone back to life in real life, but I could definitely now keep them alive long enough until the real professionals came to save the day.”

Nina provided a comparison between the original Flatliners from 1990 to today’s version,

“It’s very much a reimagining. It kinda has the same idea, except now, so many years later, doctors and technology have advanced in a way that we’re able to explore a lot of the things the characters are doing in the movie. It’s a little more based in reality, in terms of the medical side. I’d call it a psychological thriller with a bit of a twist at the end.”

Nina gave some clarification to fans of the original film about Kiefer Sutherland’s role,

“He plays a professor in the film, and we’re all residents and medical students. So he’s our mentor in many ways. I get to have a few scenes with him. He played a different role in the [1990 Flatliners]; he’s not reprising that role here. It’s a little bit different.”

You can read Nina’s entire interview including what she thought of the first trailer, her fellow cast members, what her hopes are for audience reaction and more besides, accompanied by more Flatliners film stills on Fandango.
