Badass

Nina Dobrev shares with Instyle on the workout that makes her feel the most badass, Women, her flaws, The Vampire Diaries and so much more. Check out the video below and read the interview as well it’s an amazing and badass video of Nina she is a true inspiration to women everywhere.

Career changes: From filming Degrassi in LA to living in Georgia for about six years for The Vampire Diaries, Dobrev says she learned to let her career take her where she needed to go. “I didn’t really know what was going to happen when I moved to LA years ago,” the actress admits. Over the years, she’s learned to ride the wave. “I feel like the more you plan things, the more the universe will push against you.”

Perfectly imperfect: Dobrev knows that her fans look to her social media accounts to get a real sense of her personality. But she acknowledges that platforms like Instagram usually only show a highlight-reel version of her life. “In my early 20s … I did truly strive to be perfect in every single way. And as I got older I realized that that’s not realistic and people are flawed. I’m flawed,” she says. “I try to live an authentic life to the best of my ability. I definitely have bad days too and that’s what people need to remember. I try to remind myself not to be obsessed with perfection.” Continue Reading at Instyle

Coveteur Cover Story

Nina is Coveteur First Cover Story you can check out a preview below and read the rest at their site:

When are you your most creatively inspired?

“On planes. I’m shut off to the world, I don’t connect to wifi typically. That’s when I get my creative juice going. Also, when I sleep I’ll wake up in the middle of the night and be inspired by dreams. I always have a notepad next to my bed and I write things down. Sometimes, my handwriting is crystal clear…. and sometimes it’s indecipherable. It’s funny how that works. And another is my writing partner. We wrote a script and a lot of our ideas are boozy. [Laughs] We’ll have a glass of wine and hang in the hot tub.”

You seem to be pretty spontaneous, where does that trait come from?

“It was definitely the way I was raised. My parents and I and my brother would go on road trips when we were little. I would travel to Europe to see my grandparents. I feel like there is so much out there and I just want to experience all of it as much as I can. And, because I was on a show for so long for so many months, when you’re on set or when you’re shooting the schedule is so regimented. Everything is planned to the minute, people are around you all the time. So when I’m not working I like doing the polar opposite: disappear somewhere, go as far away as possible, away from people I know and experience new cultures and new countries and immerse myself in a different environment and not have a schedule and not plan things.” Continue Reading

#1 Trend this Fall

Nina shares with Who What Wear the #1 Trend this Fall that she wants to try:

What’s the number one trend you want to try for fall?

I’m excited for all the suiting and menswear. I find it so chic and exudes confidence when a woman walks into a room of dresses wearing a suit.

What’s the one you want to retire for fall?

I don’t know about retiring… nothing? Fashion is an expression of self. Whatever someone wants to wear that makes them feel good is also good with me. Live your best life, and I’ll live mine. Continue Reading at Who What Wear

Money

Nina Dobrev didn’t come from money. The actress, who rose to fame on Degrassi: The Next Generation and The Vampire Diaries, learned early on that in order have expensive things, you need to work for them — or, failing that, you could just bend the truth.

“As a kid I remember not having new clothes,” she told InStyle earlier this summer. “We would shop at Value Village, which is kind of like Salvation Army. My mom nicknamed it Versace, so if anyone asked, we would say we went to Versace.”

Dobrev started working as soon as she was legally able to in Canada, where she lived, nabbing her first job at Hollister. “I got my first savings account when I was 14 or 15 — whatever the legal age is to work in Canada — because I got a job almost immediately,” she said. “I was always a go-getter. I was born in Eastern Europe, so I have this Eastern European/Bulgarian mentality. I didn’t really have much growing up, so everything was valued.”

Although the thesp admittedly spent most of her hard-earned Hollister money on the clothes there, she operates differently now. “I splurge more on trips and flights than purses and clothing,” she told InStyle at the Los Angeles debut of the 2nd Annual Maison St-Germain, hosted by Kate Young at Little Beach House Malibu in in California, celebrating the 1,000 elderflowers that go into St-Germain liqueur. “But every now and then I’ll splurge. Like, I bought a Chanel purse in Paris. It was a moment. Whenever there’s a moment to celebrate, I’ll treat myself.”

There’s another reason why she’d rather not overshop. “It takes a lot to impress myself — so I don’t do it often.” continue reading

Collider Interview

Nina chats with Collider on Dog Days, Maverick, xXx 4, Fam and more check out some of the interview below:

Collider: This is such a ridiculously sweet movie. Was that part of the appeal of doing something like this, especially when you get to spend time on set, all day, with just the cutest dogs, ever?

NINA DOBREV: That was a huge part of me wanting to be in this movie, yeah. I just also adopted a puppy, maybe three weeks before I read the script. I’m an animal lover, anyway, but on top of that, I had a new puppy, and the movie guaranteed that I would be around puppies all day. It was a no-brainer for me, absolutely.

What kind of personality would you say that your dog has, and what do you think your dog says about you?

DOBREV: I do think that dogs are a reflection of their owners, and Maverick and I are no exception. She is very energetic in the morning, almost a little schizophrenic, and has a lot of energy. And also like me, by the end of the night, gets very, very lethargic and likes to cuddle, and settle with Netflix and just chill. That’s me, to a T.

What are you most excited about with the next xXx film and getting to return to that character?

DOBREV: I’m just excited to reprise that role. I felt like it was a small little tidbit, but there’s so much more behind Becky. I’ve read little bits and pieces of the next script, and what I get to do in the next one is even more exciting for me, so I’m just really looking forward to getting to go on that journey again with everyone.
